Cotton Picker
A Cotton Picker is a machine used to collect cotton from the cotton plant. The machine is designed to remove seed and cotton lint from the plant. There are two types of cotton pickers, a cotton “stripper” and a cotton “spindle” picker. A “stripper” picker is designed to collect most of the cotton plant and separate the matter dependant on the weight. Normally a “stripper” picker can collect six rows of cotton as it travels. A “spindle” cotton picker is designed to only remove the seed and cotton by large spindles that rotate as the machine passes through the field. Brands such as Case IH and John Deere are known to produce these machines.
